New York, 1959 and Max Bialystock, the old King of Broadway has just produced his latest flop. Enter a young, naive accountant, Leo Bloom with a a scheme tailor-made for producers who can only make flops: raise far more money than you need by swindling little old ladies, then make sure the show is despised by hiring the worst director and cast. No one will be interested in it, so you can pocket the surplus. As opening night draws near, what can go wrong?
This hilarious Mel Brooks musical became a Broadway sensation in 2001, starring Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick, capturing a record breaking 12 Tony Awards. The Producers” provides it all. Hilarious situational comedy, broadway production at it’s finest and two hapless characters who become friends in spite of themselves.
Don't miss Theatre Ancaster's little old ladies as their 22 walkers take over the stage! Recipe for disaster or a smash hit? Come see for yourselves.
