Theatre Ancaster has
started a Take A Seat Campaign to upgrade the seating
in The Theatre Auditorium at Ancaster High.

Angela Broadley is an Ancaster grad, Theatre Ancaster performer and Board Member of Theatre Ancaster. She is seen in the picture with Gord Conroy, Theatre Ancaster President, musical director/producer, and former teacher at Ancaster High.
The seats need refurbishing. It's been 40 years since the Auditorium was
built, and many of you have sat on the seat covers we've made to cover
ripped seats and disappearing foam.
Here's a chance to say Thank You to someone you care about.
Each donation of $100.00 to Theatre Ancaster
restores a seat and provides
you with the chance to honour someone on a brass plaque attached to the arm
of the seat. We are a registered charity and can provide a receipt to you for
the full amount
for income tax purposes.
We hope to have the work completed this summer.
The Hamilton Wentworth District School Board
will be doing further upgrades to the auditorium at the same
time. What their work will include has not been determined, but
infrastructure items such as leaky roof, aging pipes, painting, carpeting
and new heating-cooling systems are all part of what they are considering.
Maybe they will even cut bigger coves for lighting.
Theatre Ancaster in partnership with Ancaster High has helped maintain the
auditorium since our inception in 1997...$70,000 plus in upgrades to the
auditorium and cash donations to Ancaster High over the decade. The Take a
Seat Campaign allows all of us who value theatre and a wonderful community
auditorium to play our part.
We've sold more than 100 seats since introducing the idea at our spring show
that just ended. The next step will be offering the Take A Seat Campaign to
former grads and staff of Ancaster High, and the public in general.
We hope you will support this refurbishing that will support the community,
the theatre, and honour family and friends. Next year is the 50th
Anniversary of Ancaster High...the reunion is planned for early May
2009...and a refurbished facility will be exciting and wonderful for our
shows and for the school and community at large.
